About This Episode
Brazilian-born Bernando LaPallo has lived in New York for 90 years and, astonishingly enough, was alive for another 24 years in addition to that. Global Freedom Movement Media caught up with him for a chat and to pick the super-centenarian’s still supple brain for his secrets to living a long, healthy and fulfilling life. It all started as a boy (at the tender age of 5) with the sensible insights from Bernando’s father, a doctor and herbalist, who inculcated the values and habits that yet still guide Bernando over nine decades later.
He was patiently taught the importance of proper nutrition, the wisdom of movement and exercise, and the profound value of faith. It was the start of a remarkable journey- a life that has spanned 114 years without disease or any of the other afflictions so prevalent in today’s aging population.
Bernando spends his nights reading voraciously about health, nutrition and wellbeing, and attributes much of his longevity to this practice (among others). Among his stalwart resources for longevity and youthfulness are—you’ll be pleased to hear—olive oil, chocolate, garlic, cinnamon, and the humble blueberry.
We are really pleased to have gotten the chance to speak with supercentenarian Bernando LaPallo the week in which we he turned 114. Still spry, still sound-of-mind, and retaining an endearing sense of humour, we invite you to join us for our interview with an inspirational man of purpose at 9 pm Sydney time.
More background on Bernandon LaPallo:
I was trained in cooking in Paris at the Sorbonne School of Culinary Arts graduating in 1928. We had to learn about the origins of food like barley, coconut and the like, and their uses which is something that is not taught in America today. In addition, I spent time in three or four different restaurants learning methods of preparation that were particular to each establishment to get a feel for different approaches. I have been blessed by God with a seventh sense. I do not need to taste food while I am preparing it. I rely on my keen sense of smell and my eyes. Nine times out of ten I can tell what is in a dish just by smelling it. Now, I don’t expect you to be able to do this like I do but if you take your time and don’t rush, your food will come out well. Time is very important.
